The Bespoke Suit

The Bespoke Suit. Get Measured Up While You Wait

A bespoke suit is one which is made to measure for you by the tailor himself. The tailors art has been learned over many years. Often many generations of master tailor exist in one family. He (or sometimes these days, she) will measure you and create a beautiful suit that's a perfect fit.

Finding a bespoke tailor shouldn't prove the least bit difficult. The Yellow Pages have many to choose from. So many in fact, that you will have a problem choosing the best one, whether its best for value, location, speed or finished quality.

The best method of choosing between them is through recommendation. Ask around your circle of friends or colleagues and someone for sure will be in a position to offer some advice. If you simply require one of the best, then they will probably have such a good name for themselves that you already know of them.

Obviously it will cost considerably more to have a suit personally made to measure than to buy one mass produced from the rails. It is money well spent though, because the quality, comfort, look and longevity of bespoke men's suits is far superior in every way.

You will attend the outfitters for an initial fitting. The tailor will take all the measurements he needs, and you will also decide other important factors like your preferred color and fabric. He will decide the style with you based upon your personal choice, and the occasions you will be wearing the suit e.g. formal or casual.

You will return later and the tailor will produce a weird looking garment shaped like a suit. This will be stitched loosely together. Don't despair, it's not finished yet.

You will try this on and the tailor will check all the measurements again. Depending upon how close to the final product the measurements are, you will need to return for another one or two fittings.

Once satisfied that everything is perfect, the tailor will make the suit. Again, how long this will all take depends upon the working practices of the chosen craftsman. You should already know through the recommendation or at the first sitting. It's worth the wait because a fine bespoke suit is truly a work of art.
