Church Jewelry

Church jewelry is like stained glass windows: an acknowledgment that places of worship should be special and decorated accordingly, with love and attention.

Besides, men and women alike have an affinity for dressing up on important or celebratory occasions. Special jewelry becomes a part of you, and makes you pause, remember, and appreciate specific moments or people who matter in your life when you accidentally find yourself fingering the trinket around your neck in an absent minded moment.

Although church jewelry is usually associated with women's wear - rosary beads and jeweled pendants are common pieces for women to own - men can also pull off a subtle but stylish accessory choice to match a suit on Sundays.

The right piece of church jewelry can really liven up a man's church suit and make him stand out in a crowd. When worn appropriately and tastefully, little and personal pieces of silver and gold can really dress up a suit to its fullest. Here are a few quick tips for selecting and taking care of your church jewelry.

Church Jewelry Tips

1. When in doubt: Stay Conservative. Shining and attention grabbing jewelry is appropriate every once in a while, but is probably not the best for this occasion. You don't want to distract your fellow worshipers.

2. Don't be a show off: Tuck your cross into your shirt. Church is a modest occasion, there's no reason to display your jewelry outside of your shirt. Plus, if you wear a button down or collared shirt (which you should), the necklace will look silly against the neckline of your shirt. As a general rule: keep necklaces inside your shirt - they aren't medallions.

3. Don't wear medallions. Just don't do it.

4. Color coordinate your jewelry and other accessories, along with your suit and the rest of your outfit.

5. No matter how fun and satisfying indulging in a special and symbolic piece of jewelry may be, do not spend all your donation money on church jewelry. Wrist, finger, neck, and ear trinkets are always less important than your community. Remember: It's better to give than to receive.
