Evening Suit Information

An evening suit should be within every man's wardrobe. Let's get into the details of this suit because if you've read the various pages on this site, you might be wondering about the distinction among suits for the evening, dinner suits, tuxedos, and the various types of jackets.

There exists some ambiguity and when we talk about this type of suit, we are generally referring to a high quality suit that may be worn out to formal or cultural events. You might have some questions but don't worry, we are here here for you.

Having formal wear and being able to show it off in the right places, in appropriate circumstances at the right parties is key for any social climber or a man who wants to catch the eye of a special lady.

Finding Your Fit

Women know what looks good and what does not look good. It follows, that one should make sure to take an honest female friend to accompany and scrutinize throughout one's suit hunting mission. Seek a friend who will not have trouble telling you that you do not look good in a particular suit, cut, jacket, color, or whatever the case may be. With regards to evening suits, there are two kinds of suits - single-breasted and double-breasted.

Evening Suit Style

The more traditional and classic of the two is the double-breasted suit, but the more relevant and contemporary option is the single-breasted suit and you will find that it is always in fashion. The double-breasted suit is more mercurial; depending on the times, current fashion trends, or the specific event you're attending, it may be out of style or a fashion faux pas to sport it.

The single-breasted is the way to go for a gentleman on a budget or for someone who can only afford to currently own one suit. Choosing a complementing formal shirt and a tie will balance and perfect the ensemble. Be sure not to fall into some stylistic color traps - mixing disharmonious shades and hues.

Everyone knows the general rule that you should not put dark blue and black together, but also remember that red is a poor color for men of pale complexions and that outlandish colors like purple and orange should be avoided entirely.

Even varying shades of black can project an unprofessional look. If your pants, for example, are slightly lighter and more faded than your jacket, it may look like you're wearing two completely different suits.
