Prom Suits Buyer's Guide
Prom suits are the first suits worn by many men. Choosing a nice one can be stressful if you let it be, so do yourself a favor and relax - its just a school sponsored party.
Some schools are more strict than others and may dictate what you wear. Here are some quick tips to help you look and feel good regardless.
1. Wear a summer suit made from worsted wool, linen, or cotton. These materials will help keep you from sweating all over your date.
2. Unless your the class clown then choose something traditional in black, charcoal gray, or navy blue.
3. Find out what color dress your date is wearing and match your tie accordingly.
I wouldn't recommend buying this suit because it probably won't fit you in a few months anyway. Look for a nice rental company that doesn't charge too much or get your big brothers old suit altered to fit you.
If you do decide to buy, don't feel like you need to spend a lot of money. Of course, the term "a lot of money" means different things to different people, but for the average teenager spending a couple hundred dollars for a suit is too much.
The best way to get an inexpensive suit is to go to a thrift store like Salvation Army or GoodWill. These places sell gently used clothing and can be great places for people to get suits at a discount.
Remember that small alterations can be made for just a few dollars, so you don't have to find something that fits you perfectly.
Another option would be to go with a less well known brand or an inexpensive one. Suits on Ebay and Amazon can sell for very low prices. The suit won't be canvassed or even half canvassed, but that really doesn't matter since you won't be wearing it too many times anyway.
Lastly, have fun at your prom and don't stress too much about which prom suits are best. Prom day will come and go quickly and nobody will remember what you wore anyway.
