Suit And Tie

Suit And Tie To Match. Easy ?

It’s not always easy getting a suit and tie to match. Sometimes however, you may not even wish to. It all comes down to personal choice and situation.

If you need a tie for work to wear with your business suit you need to choose carefully and match the tie to compliment the rest of your attire. If you are attending a social function you can afford to be a little more relaxed in your choice, without drawing too much attention to the tie alone.

There may be times when you wish to make a very bold statement. That can be in a business environment (not advisable) or a relaxed social gathering. At these times the wearing of your garishly adorned “South Park Rocks” tie will certainly draw the eye.

The shirt must be considered as well when deciding upon which tie to wear. Again, the same thoughts must be accounted for…is it to work or play.

There are a myriad different ties. You can get plain ties, skinny ties, bow ties, cartoon ties, wooly ties, clip-on ties and novelty ties. Each available in various combinations of color, pattern, material and (in the case of novelty ties) an endless stream of different designs.

To best display your tie, wear a white shirt. You could spend forever deliberating the variety of issues which can affect the correct color co-ordination for ties, especially when worn with men’s suits. However, when in doubt, you will never be wrong to wear a clean white shirt.

To decide for yourself, firstly stand back and take a look at your shirt. If its not a plain solid color squint slightly to spot the general predominant shade. Use this to match your tie. Its always more favorable to match the tie to the shirt, not the suit. The shirt itself should be matched to the suit.

Try not to go too heavy when it comes to mixing patterns. When wearing a plain colored suit you can wear a patterned shirt and a patterned tie, on condition that they are not the same pattern. As a general rule of thumb, the suit and tie should provide some contrast.
